Cell Block Tango

[Nick Ryder]

"Wait... Jack's still out there?'" Nick ran his hands through his hair and groaned. "F... Nicole... lock down the Mount. Clint... get your agents locked down at Joe's. We're going to have a really pissed off Jackson coming straight at us and from the way this one is... he's not going to be playing nice."

"On it." They said in unison.

"Never do that again." Clint pointed at Decker.

"You first." Decker pressed a button on her padd. "Mount locked down... what about here?"

"Uhm... Niiick..." Kirby's voice came over the comm. "There's is angry British yelling happening up here..."

"Shiiiit.." Nick winced and looked at the other two Directors. "Get back to your bases... if I need you, come running. I have no idea what he's capable of." he looked at Kinsey. "And what IS he capable of now Kinsey?"

“He’s a bloody genius.” Kinsey said with a smile then it faded. “Ophelia made him live lifetimes in his mind. She wanted to see what would happen if you placed a mind in a time dilation field. It forced him to evolve he’s stronger and smarter. He even developed some kinetic abilities.”

Upstairs --

Jack was pushing his way through the plain clothes intel security guards. "C'mon, let me in... I'm just here for m'wife and I'm goners."

"Just sit here Mister Ryder..." one of the guards said as he gestured to a stool.

"I'd rather not." Jack said and did a no look shot at one of the defensive phaser arrays in the bar. "Please... I installed half of this myself and what I didn't... it's child's play compared to what I'm capable of." he gestured and opened a portal and reached through it which shut down all the power on the main floor. "That's better... " he dropped the power converter on the floor.

"Oh... crap." the guard winced as he raised his weapon but was put to sleep by Jack.

"Oh crap is right mate." Jack said as he pushed through the kitchen and activated the site to site transporter in the linen closet.

[Kinsey Calhoun]

“Hello Love.” Kinsey said as Jack appeared in the cell area next to his father. “We were just talking about you.” Kinsey added as she stood up and walked towards the forcefield of her cell.

"Hello Luv..." Jack replied and looked at his father. "Alright I'll say it, you look better than Dominus... at least your mate doesn't scratch the ever lovin' hell out of you."

"First. Eww.. Second... what the fuck Jack." Nick replied. "You shut down my security? How?"

"Thinking with portals." Jack said as he gestured and created one and pulled a bottle through. "Of course there's a lot more that I can do with this now... oh and I upgraded myself a bit since you nicked m'wife. Nick'd... get it?"

"You've both gone nuts." Nick said as he raised a flaming hand.

"Oh please dad... you're not going to use that on me." Jack said as he touched the control panel and his hand extended out and infiltrated the system. "There... computer. Lower force field. Drop Psi blockers."

"Force field lowered... psi blockers... unable to be disengaged, SECURITY PROTOCOL 938.3" the computer intoned.

"You may be a genius, but I've been dealing with psionics since before you were born." Nick said.

"Then... let's have it out..." Jack said as he grabbed his father's hand and pushed it away. " Oh ow... flame... oh burning... like I didn't plan for THAT." he flexed his hand. "Ophelia's little tantrum crushed my arm a bit but a few upgrades and I can more than counter you. Even without my powers. Or your's." he cocked his head. "C'mon Kins... Pod's on the roof."

[Kinsey Calhoun]

Kinsey stepped out of the cell and over to Jack. She pulled him close, kissed him deeply, and ran her fingers along his face. She knew he was alive, but it felt so strange to see him but not sense him. For a brief moment it reminded her of just before she killed him. She pulled away and turned to Nick, a pained look in her eyes.

“Maybe someday I’ll be able to tell you everything that happened and have you understand.” Kinsey told him. “I made a deal to spare Xenex because I thought Jack was dead and to keep my children safe. I fulfilled my part and now we just want to be left alone. If it’d been anyone else. Any other race…I wouldn’t have done it.”

Jack dropped a padd on the floor. "My resignation and some of my database. We're not going to be coming back around for a long time." he held onto Kinsey's hand. "Finding a place away from you, from Dominus, from the lot of this... because honestly... not a ton of difference. At least Dominus didn't give me the flame hands."

[Kinsey Calhoun]

“Goodbye Nick.” Kinsey said softly as she looked into his eyes. This was possibly the last time she would see him. The man who had become far more then just her commanding officer. He was a man she’d come to respect, love, and even think of as a father.

Standing before him in that moment she knew Ophelia had played her well. Killing Jack had killed a piece of her. The piece that would have made her think about the man before her. The piece that would have allowed herself be spaced instead of making a deal with the devil.

Giving Jack back had only been an experimentation on Ophelia’s part. The deal had already been struck and she was even more afraid of losing Jack now then before.

"Now are you goin' to stand aside... or are we going to have to fight our way through the couple of dozen agents you just deployed." Jack said as he crossed his arm.

"I thought the psi blockers were up?" Nick raised an eyebrow.

"Contact lens scanner and sensor array and I know the bloody protocols dad." Jack said as he put his arm around Kinsey. "Call them off or pay a few medical bills."

"So you'll attack our own? Your friends... family?" Nick said as he crossed his arms.

"We've been kept prisoner enough for more than one lifetime and if we HAD stayed the hell away before, we wouldn't be IN this mess now would we?" Jack said as he pointed a finger at Nick. "i WANTED to retire with Kinsey to Xenex, but you guilt tripped me into comin' back... I was perfectly happy being literally anywhere else. I don't have the stomach for this anymore. But I'll fucking flatten anyone who gets between us. We both will. Powers or not. Hell, I could just make everyone sleep, but I can't do that right now." he cocked his head. "So... your choice pop... "

"I can't let you two get out." Nick said as he unbuttoned his blazer and unsnapped his sidearm. "How fast is your draw?"

"Faster than your's." Jack said as he snapped his fingers and the phaser under his coat sparked. "Micro Emp." he cocked his head. "Jackson Ryder. Super genius." he tapped his heels together and a small repulsor lift iris opened on the soles of his shoes. "You can make your own later... for now..." he kicked his foot up and knocked his father back 5 feet with a jet of recycled air from his shoe repulsor. "We should start running... we've got 4 floors to get through."

Kinsey took one last look at Nick before she took off running with Jack.

“Four floors.” Kinsey stated. “I hope you’ve got more tricks in your attire to get us through them.”
